ETHIOPIA:Debrebrhan Hospital Expanding By Over Br350 Million

May 2013 Ertagov; Expansion of the Debrebrhan Referral Hospital, which is located in North Shoa Zone of Amhara State, is happening with over 350 million Birr. This is according to ENA.

Recently Minister of Health, Dr. Keseteberhan Admassu gave a visit to the hospital. The hospital has been in service for the last 76 years. The expansion is aimed at providing improved health service to the increasing number of the public in the city and around.

Documents say the expansion is to come to end in the next six years. Now the first phase of the expansion is already finalized.

Upon completion of the expansion the hospital, which will have over 300 beds, wards for outpatient, delivery, emergency and surgical operations, among others, will benefit more than 2.4 million customers.

The regional health bureau and the Ministry of Health finances expansion of the Hospital. Dr. Keseteberhan upon his visit reaffirmed the will of his office to provide the the necessary support to up and run operations of the Hospital.

Similarly, ENA reports the Organization for Rehabilitation and Development in Amhara (ORDA) sets to build 22 small-scale irrigation projects at a cost of over 73 million Birr this budget year.

ORDA’s reportedly is up to boost agricultural development in the state to benefit farmers through irrigation development. The projects will help farmers make use of surface and ground water resources to increase productivity in the state.
